  • The company founder has over 20 years of experience in accounting and finance, along with more than seven years as an owner/operator of brick-and-mortar businesses. • Determining the type of accounting service you need depends on your business size, operations, and goals. Generally, most start-ups and solopreneurs require only bookkeeping and payroll services. As your business grows and matures, you may need a fractional controller to assist with cash management and compliance. When you're ready to raise capital, grow through acquisitions, or plan and execute your exit strategy, a fractional CFO will be beneficial. Our service models allow you to receive exactly what your business needs—when it needs it—without overpaying early or outgrowing our firm later on. We want to support you at every step of your entrepreneurial journey.

  • Great question! Bookkeeping involves the essential tasks to keep your business moving forward, such as properly classifying transactions, reconciling bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly, and preparing your books for your CPA to complete your annual taxes. Fractional controllers elevate the process by providing budgeting and forecasting tools, ensuring compliance with any investor, donor, or loan agreements, as well as industry benchmarking and monitoring the overall financial health of the organization. Fractional CFOs build on the controller's work by offering expert guidance on growth, development, and exit strategies.

  • We make it easy to transition from your current accountant to Homegrown Accounting. After our initial call and sending an introduction email to your current accountant or bookkeeper, we will handle the rest of the process. This typically takes just a few business days to complete with minimal effort on your part.

  • To maintain a professional relationship with all parties involved, we suggest providing a 30-day notice for the transition. However, we recommend reviewing your engagement letter and terms of service with your current provider to ensure there are no different timelines expected. We can assist with this during our introductory call.

  • Typically, providing us with accountant-level access to your QuickBooks, Xero, or ERP system is sufficient to begin. After we review your books and records, we will provide you with a detailed list of all necessary documents and account access needed to deliver the level of service you require.
